Gallup: Majority Of Republicans Now Approve Of Labor Unions

According to Axios, a new Gallup poll found that 52% of Republicans approve of labor unions, only the second time in a quarter century that a majority of Republicans have done so. Overall approval of unions stood at 71% among Americans, while 49% of Republicans said unions should have less influence and 19% said they should have more. Gallup said 89% of Democrats and 70% of independents approved of unions, and 47% of Americans wanted unions to have more influence, compared with 23% who wanted less. The poll also found that just 11% of U.S. workers, or 16.5 million people, were represented by unions in 2025, and less than 7% of private-sector workers had union representation in the most recent year. Gallup surveyed 1,200 U.S. adults Aug. 3-24, with a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
