According to the BBC, a court in Nigeria heard that the driver of a car carrying former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was trying to overtake another vehicle when it crashed, killing two of Joshua's friends. Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid national driver's licence, which he denies. The court was told the group had been traveling to visit Joshua's father in Ogun State, near Lagos, last December when Kayode lost control of his Lexus SUV while overtaking a moving truck and hit a parked lorry. Joshua's personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, died in the crash. A second defendant, Abubakar Adamu, 35, denies a charge of obstructing the free flow of traffic. Police told the court they had not yet taken a statement from Joshua, and the trial was adjourned until 10 September.
