Hundreds of North Sea workers are still above the new offshore helicopter travel weight limit less than two months before it takes effect, according to BBC reported. From 1 November, workers must weigh no more than 124.7kg in clothing and footwear so they can be winched to safety in an emergency. Industry body Offshore Energies UK said the latest figures, based on more than 35,000 traveller records collected between April and August, suggest between 500 and 800 workers still need to lose weight, down from an estimated 2,200 when the policy was announced last year. OEUK said about 3.4% of offshore workers now weigh more than 124kg, compared with 4.7% in 2022. Occupational health and employment specialists said some workers could leave offshore roles, while others may move onshore or abroad.
