Reserve Bank of Australia Seeks Views on Settlement Services in Tokenized Markets

The Reserve Bank of Australia said it has launched a consultation on the role its information and transfer systems could play in settlement services within tokenized ecosystems. According to Sina Finance, the consultation aims to gather views on how the Reserve Bank of Australia's services could support the growth of Australia's tokenized asset market and private money while maintaining financial safety, operational efficiency, and financial stability. The consultation closes on October 30. The Reserve Bank of Australia also said a report it issued jointly with the Treasury found that Australia's retail payments system serves households and businesses well, and that there is currently no sufficient public interest case for introducing a retail central bank digital currency.
