According to Axios, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the Trump administration now trusts Anthropic after months of clashes with the AI company over national security and AI safeguards. Lutnick told Axios' Mike Allen that Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and the company had done what the administration asked and were “back on the right side.” The remarks came as Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown took a more visible role in the company’s ties with the White House, including a speaking slot at this week’s G20 Innovation Ministerial. Brown praised President Trump’s recent Truth Social post on data centers, said they create jobs and tax revenue, and said Anthropic supports the administration’s ratepayer pledge. Axios also reported that earlier tensions led to sweeping export controls on Anthropic’s most advanced models, while a federal judge in August struck down the Pentagon’s blacklisting of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk. Anthropic is still fighting a separate Pentagon designation in the D.C. Circuit.
