Beijing embodied-intelligence company Galbot, in which Hong Kong Investment Management Co. has invested, has launched Hong Kong's first fully autonomous robot retail store, Galbot Store, according to Ming Pao.
The store began operations today, and its first three branches are scheduled to open on September 1 at Hung Hom's New Harbourfront, Wan Chai Harbourfront and the ground floor of Kai Tak Sports Park. Financial Secretary Paul Chan said at the launch ceremony that the robotics sector is still at an early stage and its disruptive force is spreading globally. He said Hong Kong has three key advantages in the wave of development: application scenarios, a research and development ecosystem, and capital support.
