J.P. Morgan Sees Global Food Inflation Hitting 5% In First Half Of 2027

According to Axios, pressures across the global food supply chain are building as expensive grain, fertilizer and fuel, along with unpredictable weather and wars, push up grocery costs. Corn and wheat prices hit three-year highs this week, while J.P. Morgan analysts warned in a report earlier this month that global food inflation will reach 5% in the first half of 2027, nearly double the rate in the first half of 2026. The article said instant coffee is up 15.8% year over year, tomatoes 12.8%, beef roasts 13.5% and apples 11.1%, and it cited an Economist/YouGov poll showing about three-quarters of respondents said grocery prices are still rising where they live.
