U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy said on Sunday local time that it appears unlikely that U.S. President Donald Trump will end the Iran war soon. He said Trump should seek a path to peace through Congress.
According to Odaily, Cassidy said there should be a broader national discussion on how to move forward. He added that he has criticized Trump’s handling of the war, especially its impact on the cost of living.
Cassidy said in May that, after failing to keep his Senate seat, he became one of four Republican senators supporting a war powers resolution that would require Trump to withdraw U.S. armed forces deployed inside Iran.
