Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon Supports Clarity Act for Digital Asset Regulation

Goldman Sachs Chairman and Chief Executive David Solomon publicly backed the Clarity Act, which seeks to create a new regulatory framework for the digital asset market. According to Foresight News, Solomon said in an interview that the bill is not perfect, but its importance lies in creating a level playing field, improving market stability, and allowing these markets to develop properly. He added that he strongly supports moving the bill forward. The comments came as Republican senators began circulating a new draft of the bill and planned a full Senate vote next week. The stance contrasts with opposition from other bankers, including JPMorgan Chase Chief Executive Jamie Dimon. Critics say the bill could create an unfair advantage for crypto companies that offer stablecoin yield rewards, potentially posing risks to consumer banks. The American Bankers Association, the Bank Policy Institute, and other industry groups have also said the bill's stablecoin provisions threaten local credit that supports U.S. economic activity. The legislation also includes ethics provisions that would prohibit federal officials from issuing their own tokens. Democratic senators said the revised text does not offer enough concessions and are expected to continue pushing for changes before the vote.
