HyperliquidNews said on X that deploying a HIP-3 market requires locking 500,000 hyperliquid:native and buying one ticker for each market created. According to Odaily, Trade[XYZ], the largest HIP-3 deployer, has bought 103 tickers and launched 87 markets.
The minimum cost of a ticker is 500 hyperliquid:native, worth about $31,400. HIP-3 revenue comes from trading fees generated by each market, with 50% going to the deployer and 50% to the Assistance Fund, which uses the proceeds to buy back and burn hyperliquid:native.
To encourage trading activity in HIP-3 markets, Hyperliquid introduced Growth Mode, which cuts trading fees by 90%. Deployers can choose whether to enable it, except for a few cases. Despite the lower fees, 40 of the 87 markets launched by Trade[XYZ] have generated revenue above 500 hyperliquid:native, covering the initial ticker cost for at least those markets.
The figure covers ticker costs only and does not include other operating expenses. As long as trading activity continues, each ticker will keep generating revenue. Some tickers have generated millions of dollars in fees for both Hyperliquid and Trade[XYZ], including GOLD, which has generated more than $4.6 million for each side. GBP is currently the least profitable ticker, having generated $610 for Trade[XYZ] so far.
