China Civil Aviation Regulator Outlines Five Priorities For Air Cargo In The 15th Five-Year Plan

China's Civil Aviation Administration will work to build an air cargo system that is accessible, resilient, safe, and reliable during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, vice director Han Jun said at a State Council Information Office briefing, according to 36Kr. He said the regulator will focus on opening international cargo channels, improving the efficiency and backup capacity of traditional markets, strengthening links with emerging-market hubs, and building an international route network that combines freighter and bellyhold capacity. It also plans to expand the cargo functions of aviation hubs, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu, improve the role of specialized cargo hub airports such as Ezhou, support major export provinces in using hub airports to lift international air cargo capacity, upgrade airport cargo infrastructure, foster more diversified cargo carriers, and help Chinese freight airlines grow into integrated logistics providers. The plan also calls for lowering costs and improving quality and efficiency in air logistics.
