Tokenized Stock Market Cap Reaches $1.7 Billion at End of June, a16z Says

a16z said the market capitalization of tokenized stocks reached about $1.7 billion at the end of June, up more than fivefold from $329 million a year earlier. According to Odaily, tokenized stocks were among the fastest-growing categories of tokenized assets. Unlike stablecoins, tokenized stock market value is affected by both new issuance and price movements in the underlying assets. Data showed that the growth mainly came from expansion in issuance, with more than half of the market value coming from assets that were not yet on-chain a year earlier. Most of the new balances arrived in the middle of the year, after most of the price changes in the underlying stocks had already occurred.
