AI TRENDS | Samsung SDS Launches FuriosaAI-Based NPUaaS on Samsung Cloud Platform

Samsung SDS said on the 20th that it has launched a service-based NPU, or NPUaaS, on Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP) using FuriosaAI's second-generation neural network processor, Renegade (RGND). Renegade is a Korean-made NPU for AI inference and is used for response generation, document analysis, and image recognition in trained AI models. According to Odaily, Samsung SDS said NPUaaS customers do not need to buy NPU servers or build their own data centers and can use the service on SCP through a subscription model. Companies can choose one, two, four, or eight NPUs based on demand and data scale, and use them with SCP products including high-performance storage, computing, and high-speed networking. Samsung SDS also said the NPUaaS will be offered in SCP's sovereign cloud environment to support public sector customers subject to strict security regulations. Lee Ho-jun, head of Samsung SDS's cloud services division, said the company will continue expanding its product lineup based on SCP.
