As memory prices rise in a prolonged storage price cycle, smartphone makers are seeing costs climb and the industry is adjusting, according to 36Kr. OPPO said realme will further integrate group resources and align its global product strategy, with future new devices focusing on overseas markets while product updates in China are paused.
The move follows similar steps by other Chinese handset brands. In February, Meizu said it would suspend launches of new domestic smartphone products amid intense competition and rising memory prices, while shifting its overseas phone business, AI glasses business and PANDAER tech lifestyle brand to market-oriented operations and moving from a hardware-led model to one driven by AI software products.
