OpenClaw said it has established a foundation and is now a formally registered U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving a global community. According to Foresight News, the foundation said it was created to protect OpenClaw and ensure it remains open and independent.
The foundation said its purpose includes governance, stable funding, and paying salaries for staff who maintain its operations.
In its statement, the foundation said its goal is for OpenClaw to become a neutral platform in the artificial intelligence field, allowing models and labs to access the technology and jointly develop standards in the agent era.
It added that it has convened multiple committees to work on topics including agent identity, agent profiles, evaluation, and enterprise deployment.
The OpenClaw Foundation said it has 20 initial team members.
