According to CNBC, the pilot of Delta Air Lines flight 1076 reported that a firework hit the aircraft during its descent into Chicago Midway International Airport on Saturday night, describing a “big bang” at an altitude of about 200 to 250 feet. The Federal Aviation Administration and Delta said the Airbus A319, which flew from Atlanta with 52 passengers and six crew members, landed safely just after 8:30 p.m. local time; Delta said Sunday that an inspection found no damage and no injuries were reported. The FAA said it will investigate, and an air traffic controller said there were “multiple reports” of similar encounters.
