Tinci Materials said it plans to terminate the investment and construction of its Nantong Tinci project with annual capacity of 243,000 tons of lithium battery and fluorine-containing new materials, according to 36Kr. The company said that since the second half of 2023, leading electrolyte makers and new entrants have expanded capacity in a concentrated wave, while downstream demand came in below expectations, resulting in a supply-demand mismatch. It added that intensified competition has driven electrolyte prices down and squeezed profitability, and noted that electrolyte capacity has not been fully absorbed and that market conditions in the fluorochemical industry have changed.
