The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seeking public comment on “novel exchange-traded funds (novel ETFs)” as it evaluates its regulatory framework and market rule design. According to Odaily, the SEC said in a filing that it continues to monitor market interest in multiple types of innovative products.
The SEC’s filing cited interest in funds related to crypto assets, investment opportunities based on blockchain technology, and new financial derivatives such as “event contracts.”
The request for comment was described as an effort by the SEC to explore the boundaries of ETF regulation, particularly as demand grows for crypto ETFs, products offering exposure to on-chain assets, and structured derivatives.
