Wealthsimple Inc., a Toronto-based online financial services platform, has partnered with prediction market Kalshi to introduce a new trading product that allows Canadian users to bet on real-world events. According to Foresight News, The Globe and Mail reported that Wealthsimple plans to launch a standalone app called Wealthsimple Predict, which will give users access to trade nearly 4,000 contracts on Kalshi.
Wealthsimple said it plans to release the Wealthsimple Predict app later this summer, but did not provide a specific launch date.
The contracts available to Canadian users will be limited to categories permitted under CIRO rules, including economic indicators, financial markets, and climate-related events. Users will not be able to trade contracts tied to sports outcomes or elections.
Wealthsimple Predict will only offer event contracts with terms of 30 days or longer.
