Animoca Brands’ Yat Siu Says Asia Will Lead AI and Blockchain Convergence

Animoca Brands co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu said Asia is likely to outpace Western markets in integrating artificial intelligence with blockchain technology. According to ChainCatcher, Siu made the remarks in an interview during the SuperAI summit in Singapore, arguing that crypto communities in Europe and the United States often treat AI and crypto as separate, while Asian markets are more receptive to combining the two. Siu said AI and blockchain are closely linked at a foundational level, and that enabling AI systems requires giving them access to funds so they can conduct secure, autonomous transactions on users’ behalf. He said blockchain provides infrastructure that can support this at scale. He also forecast that as many as 200 billion AI agents could be deployed in the future, and that these agents would likely prefer faster, very low-cost on-chain transactions for commercial interactions rather than relying on traditional credit card payment networks with higher fees.
