U.S. Vice President Vance said Iran could potentially receive support from a $300 billion reconstruction fund financed by Gulf countries, provided Iran fulfills specific obligations. According to Odaily, Vance made the remarks in an interview with CBS.
Vance said the funding would be available if Iran meets its responsibilities, and he added that the United States is willing to discuss multiple options. He denied that releasing $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets is part of the agreement.
Vance said the agreement text has not been made public. In several television interviews on Monday morning local time, he said that after the agreement is signed, both sides will continue negotiations to finalize additional specific and technical details.
He repeatedly said Iran would only be allowed to access the funds after it fulfills a commitment not to produce or obtain nuclear weapons.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said a memorandum of understanding has been completed, with some provisions set to be implemented on the 15th and the remaining provisions to be implemented after the memorandum is signed on the 19th.
