India has cleared a regulatory framework to legally authorize 100% ethanol (E100) as a vehicle fuel, opening the way for cars to run on biofuel instead of imported petrol. Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari signed the file, according to BeInCrypto, saying the move aims to raise domestic fuel output and build alternatives to petrol and diesel as import costs rise.
Gadkari said Maruti Suzuki has shown a flex-fuel WagonR and Hero MotoCorp has launched two ethanol-ready motorcycles, adding Toyota, Suzuki, Hyundai, and MG will follow within about six weeks.
