Amadeus Protocol said its X account has been restored after being compromised in a phishing attack last week. According to Foresight News, the protocol described the incident as a deceptive scam that used forged copyright and DMCA violation emails.
The team said the emails appeared authentic and included the project’s real posts, making the related appeal request seem credible. During the fake appeal process, the victim shared access details believing it was necessary to protect the account, allowing the attacker to take control.
After gaining access, the attacker demanded a ransom, which the team said it did not pay. Amadeus Protocol said it recovered the account through X’s official restoration process by providing proof, and the account was returned after seven days.
The team added that the attack could have been prevented by more carefully verifying the sender’s email address.
