Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive Eddie Yue said two stablecoin projects are expected to launch in 2026, with one beginning a pilot program within weeks.
According to ChainCatcher, Yue said Anchorpoint Technology expects to roll out its stablecoin by mid-year and start trial usage a few weeks later. He added that HSBC is expected to launch a stablecoin in the third to fourth quarter of this year.
Yue said the two stablecoins are aimed at different use cases: Anchorpoint Technology is focused on cross-border payments, while HSBC is targeting retail payment scenarios.
Yue also said Hong Kong will continue efforts to attract global capital inflows.
