AI security startup Depthfirst has announced that its proprietary AI model outperforms Anthropic's latest model, Mythos, in detecting code vulnerabilities, attracting attention in the cybersecurity industry. According to Odaily, the company revealed that while Mythos claimed to have identified numerous critical vulnerabilities in key internet infrastructure code a month before its launch, Depthfirst's model identified additional high-risk vulnerabilities at a lower cost, approximately $1,000 compared to $10,000.
Depthfirst CEO Qasim Mithani stated that the company enhances vulnerability detection efficiency through a 'single-task optimized AI model,' significantly reducing security analysis costs while increasing coverage depth.
In March, the company completed an $80 million funding round, reaching a valuation of $580 million. Concurrently, it launched the 'Open Defense Initiative,' offering $5 million in AI detection credits to open-source developers and critical infrastructure projects for vulnerability scanning and security audits.
