A powerful U.S. Senate committee has supported legislation requiring OpenAI, Meta Platforms (META.O), and other artificial intelligence companies to block minors from using AI chatbots, responding to growing public concerns about the harm this rapidly spreading technology poses to children and teenagers. Republicans and Democrats on the ideologically polarized Senate Judiciary Committee broke party lines to unanimously support the bill.
