China's Social Insurance Coverage and Fund Performance in Q1

On April 28, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security held a routine press conference. According to Jin10, spokesperson Cui Pengcheng reported that by the end of March, the number of people covered by basic pension insurance, unemployment insurance, and work-related injury insurance (including occupational injury protection) in China reached 1.073 billion, 247 million, and 319 million, respectively. These figures represent year-on-year increases of 1.87 million, 2.8 million, and 21.52 million people. In the first quarter, the total revenue of the three social insurance funds amounted to 2.54 trillion yuan (2.54万亿元), while total expenditures were 2.06 trillion yuan (2.06万亿元). By the end of March, the cumulative balance stood at 10.8 trillion yuan (10.8万亿元), indicating stable overall fund operations.
