Two Iranian-linked oil tankers intercepted by U.S. forces near Sri Lanka last week are currently sailing west. The Pentagon stated last week that the U.S. military conducted "maritime interception and boarding" operations on the supertankers USS Tiffany and USS Phoenix on April 21 and 23, respectively, but did not elaborate on the subsequent handling of the ships. Digital signals from the two tankers indicate they are currently sailing westward across the Indian Ocean, one after the other. The U.S. has not yet officially stated its specific intentions regarding the two tankers. They are still sending the same destination signals as when the interception occurred, further exacerbating the confusion surrounding their current whereabouts. (Jinshi)
