JAN3 CEO Samson Mow stated in an article on the X platform that the current response to the threat of Bitcoin quantum computing (QC) should not be rushed. A hasty switch from existing signature mechanisms to quantum-resistant (PQ) schemes could expose Bitcoin to classical computing attacks in the short term. PQ signatures could increase size by 10 to 125 times, significantly reducing network throughput and potentially triggering a repeat of the scaling controversies of the early "block wars." Furthermore, Mow warned of potential backdoor risks in some PQ schemes. The quantum computing threat is still in the medium to long term (potentially 10 to 20 years), and the more reasonable approach now is continuous research rather than hasty deployment. He also specifically named Coinbase, stating that its wallet has a quantum attack vulnerability due to address reuse and suggesting that fixing related infrastructure issues should be prioritized.
