Iran's recent actions in the Gulf region, aimed at pressuring neighboring countries to influence the United States to halt hostilities, may have unintended consequences. According to Ming Pao, signs are emerging that these efforts could backfire. The latest indication comes from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which faces threats from Iranian missiles and drones. On Tuesday, October 17, Anwar Gargash, the UAE's presidential diplomatic advisor, described Iran as an 'aggressive neighbor' during a think tank discussion. He stated that Iran's current behavior is likely to decrease hostility towards Israel among Gulf countries and strengthen their relations with the United States. Gargash also mentioned the possibility of the UAE joining the U.S.-led coalition to protect the Strait of Hormuz.
