Robinhood (NASDAQ: HOOD) has completed its first public investments in its newly launched Robinhood Ventures Fund I (RVI), acquiring stakes in Stripe and ElevenLabs. This closed-end fund aims to provide retail investors with private equity investment opportunities. According to disclosures, RVI completed transactions in March including approximately $14.6 million in Stripe shares (purchased from existing holders through a secondary market transaction) and a $20 million investment in London-based AI company ElevenLabs (direct investment in the company through a primary funding round). The fund began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on March 6th, allowing retail investors to participate like ordinary shareholders, accessing private opportunities traditionally reserved for institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals. The existing portfolio includes companies such as Databricks, Revolut, Ramp, and Ora, and is expected to expand further in the future. This investment signifies Robinhood's continued commitment to the fintech and AI private equity market, providing early access for retail investors before potential IPOs. (CoinDesk)
