The Kobeissi Letter posted on X that the trading activity in U.S.-listed Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) has surged to unprecedented levels. Last week, the weekly trading volume soared to $2.2 trillion, marking the second-highest in history. This figure represents a 215% increase above the weekly average for 2023 and the first half of 2024.
Earlier this year, ETF trading volumes reached a cumulative $13 trillion in January and February, setting a record for the strongest start to a year. In comparison, the previous high for this period was $10 trillion in 2022. Consequently, ETF trading now accounts for more than 30% of the total U.S. market volume, a milestone never before achieved. The U.S. ETF industry is experiencing unprecedented growth.
