The Atlanta Federal Reserve is conducting a nationwide search for a successor to former President Raphael Bostic. According to Jin10, Gregory Hale, Chairman of the Atlanta Fed Board, stated that the search will not be limited to the southeastern region where the bank is located. Candidates must be willing and able to collaborate with local communities and businesses. Application materials are still being collected, with interviews expected to begin in approximately 30 days.
Previously, U.S. Treasury Secretary Besent suggested in early December that future regional Fed presidents should reside in their district for at least three years, or their appointment could be vetoed. Hale noted that no restrictions have been imposed on the Atlanta Fed's hiring process so far. Although the regional Fed board appoints the president, the appointment requires approval from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
