Ebrahim Jabari, an advisor to the commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, said on Monday that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and Iran will fire on any ships attempting to pass through, as well as attack oil pipelines and shipping routes. This is Iran's clearest warning since informing ships on Saturday that it would close the exit route, a move that could disrupt one-fifth of global oil shipments and drive a sharp rise in crude oil prices. Speaking to state media, Jabari said, "The Strait of Hormuz is closed. If anyone tries to pass through, the heroes of the Revolutionary Guard and the standing navy will set those ships on fire. We will not let a single drop of oil leave the region… Oil prices could rise to $200 in the coming days."
