Iran has launched an attack on a Saudi Arabian refinery, further intensifying the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. According to Jin10, this move directly impacts the economic core of the Saudi kingdom. Torbjorn Soltvedt, an analyst at risk intelligence firm Verisk Maplecroft, stated that the attack signifies a significant escalation, with Iran now targeting the Gulf region's energy infrastructure. Soltvedt noted that Iran aims to impose a heavy economic cost by attacking tankers, regional energy infrastructure, trade routes, and U.S. security partners, leading to a prolonged period of uncertainty.
