Hong Kong Legislative Council member Ng Kit-chung stated on the "Financial Chat" program that Hong Kong is expected to issue its first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses in March. He suggested that after the relevant institutions obtain licenses, the government could issue stablecoin-based consumption vouchers to eligible citizens for use by local SMEs, thereby promoting the application of stablecoins in Hong Kong. Ng pointed out that this move could draw on the experience of promoting electronic payments through electronic consumption vouchers, stimulating the local economy through stablecoin usage scenarios and enhancing Hong Kong's development positioning in the Web3 and digital asset fields.
