The cryptocurrency sector is ramping up its spending in preparation for the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, following significant victories and substantial fundraising in 2024. According to ChainCatcher, the industry's major super political action committee network, Fairshake, had over $193 million in cash at the beginning of 2026. The network has outlined several targets for this election cycle, including supporting Representative Barry Moore (Republican-Alabama) in the Alabama Senate race and advocating for the removal of Representative Al Green (Democrat-Texas) in the House elections.
In the previous U.S. elections, the industry made substantial investments and claimed victories in at least two high-profile races, which helped secure early successes in Congress and significantly enhanced the cryptocurrency sector's standing in Washington.
The industry's influence was most notable in 2024, when it spent tens of millions of dollars on various primaries and competitive elections. Campaign finance reports from 2024 reveal that the Fairshake super PAC network, which includes three affiliated groups, spent nearly $180 million during the last cycle.
