The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) announced the convening of its third Digital Assets Advisory Group meeting. The meeting, in conjunction with licensed virtual asset trading platforms, discussed the future regulatory development of digital assets in Hong Kong. The meeting addressed plans to strengthen the digital asset ecosystem, including improving the liquidity of licensed virtual asset trading platforms and further expanding regulatory measures to include a wider range of products and services. Dr. Ip Chi-hang, Executive Director of the SFC's Institutional Division and Chairman of the Digital Assets Advisory Group, stated that striking a balance between innovation and investor protection based on integrity is crucial. He pledged to work towards building a prosperous and sustainable digital asset market in Hong Kong, ensuring that regulatory policies are pragmatic, effective, and appropriate.
