Bithumb issued a follow-up announcement regarding the "accidental Bitcoin airdrop" incident. The platform stated that during yesterday's reward distribution process, an error occurred in entering the correct amount of Bitcoin, resulting in some customers receiving a large amount of Bitcoin via airdrop. Within 35 minutes of the erroneous payment, Bithumb restricted transactions and withdrawals for 695 customers, and over 99% of the erroneously paid amount has been recovered. Specifically: 1. Amount of erroneous transfer: 620,000 BTC (2.95% of the total BTC supply); 2. Amount recovered: 618,212 BTC (approximately 99.7% of the total); 3. 93% of the 1,788 BTC equivalent assets (Korean Won and other virtual assets) that were sold have also been recovered (it has been confirmed that the erroneously transferred Bitcoin did not go to any external addresses). It is worth noting that Bithumb's BTC reserves are only approximately 460,000.
