On January 20th, the X platform engineering team announced that it had officially open-sourced the latest version of the X algorithm. The official description states that the algorithm uses the same Transformer architecture as xAI's Grok model. Elon Musk subsequently responded that the current algorithm is still "quite clunky" and requires continuous and significant improvements, but open-sourcing it means users can see the entire optimization process in real time and transparently, pointing out that other social media platforms have not taken similar steps. Previously, on January 11th, Musk stated that X would open-source the core algorithm code used to determine organic search content and ad recommendations within 7 days, planning to repeat this every four weeks, along with detailed developer notes. Earlier, the X platform algorithm's adjustments to recommendations for "cryptocurrency"-related content sparked widespread discussion in the crypto community.
