China Ensures Stable Fertilizer Supply Amid Market Fluctuations

On May 22, Li Chao, Deputy Director of the Policy Research Office at the National Development and Reform Commission, stated at a press conference that the international fertilizer market experienced significant fluctuations during the peak spring planting season due to external factors. According to Jin10, the commission, in collaboration with relevant parties, has taken measures to ensure the supply of key fertilizers. These measures include holding major enterprises accountable for supply responsibilities, releasing reserves in advance, ensuring smooth port unloading and domestic transportation, securing sulfur resources for phosphate fertilizer production, and guiding market expectations. These efforts have effectively ensured an adequate supply and stable prices of major fertilizer varieties during the spring planting season. For instance, domestic urea prices are approximately 3,500 yuan per ton lower than international market prices, effectively meeting domestic peak fertilizer demand. Moving forward, the commission will continue to monitor agricultural production conditions and grain price trends, coordinating efforts to stabilize fertilizer supply and prices, thereby providing more convenience for farmers and agricultural operators.
