STOCKS | Hong Kong Tech Index Hits Highest Since Sept. 9

U.S. Treasury yields rose, U.S. stocks pulled back overnight and U.S. futures were lower this morning, while Asian markets traded mixed, according to Ming Pao. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose more than 0.3%, South Korea's Kosdaq gained more than 1.6%, the Kospi fell more than 0.1% and Taiwan stocks dropped 0.25%. Mainland China released economic data this morning showing retail sales and fixed-asset investment missed expectations, while industrial output beat forecasts. Mainland A shares rose and then fell, while the Hang Seng Index and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index moved lower. The Hang Seng Tech Index rose against the trend and touched 4,367.37, its highest level since 4,459.27 on Sept. 9.
