Symbiosis Reports Security Incident, Pauses Bitcoin Bridge Routing

Cross-chain liquidity protocol Symbiosis said it suffered a security incident after an attacker exploited a Bitcoin bridge vulnerability at about 04:28 UTC on September 11, 2026. According to ChainCatcher, BTC routing has been suspended, while other routes continue to operate normally. The project said only the Bitcoin bridge was affected and that it has been isolated from other systems. EVM chains, TRON, TON, and other routes, as well as components such as Octopools, were not affected. The team said it has recovered about 15 BTC and placed the funds in a multisig wallet under team control. Symbiosis said it has offered the attacker a white-hat bounty equal to 20% of the funds, valid until September 13, 2026. After that, the same percentage will be offered to anyone who provides information that helps recover the funds. Final loss calculations are still underway, and confirmed figures will be released later. The team is contacting affected liquidity providers one by one and is developing a compensation framework. It added that the relay group remains operational and is helping secure the network.
