KB Securities Sees Samsung HBM Share Rising to 40% in Q4

KB Securities said on September 11 that Samsung Electronics' HBM market share could rise from 33% in the second quarter to 40% in the fourth quarter. According to ChainCatcher, the forecast is driven by HBM4 sales in the third quarter rising more than three times quarter over quarter, with HBM4 expected to account for more than 60% of Samsung's total HBM sales in the second half of the year. Samsung has also set a roadmap for full-scale HBM4 mass production, HBM4E samples for key customers, an HBM5 architecture using a 1c core die and a 2-nanometer base die, and next-generation ZHBM. In foundry operations, 4-nanometer yields have remained above 80%, while 2-nanometer GAA yields have climbed above 70%. KB Securities analyst Kim Dong-Won said the foundry business could turn profitable from the third quarter and that improved 2-nanometer yields may help Samsung win orders from a major U.S. customer this year.
