STOCKS | New York and London Copper Prices Hit Record Highs Again

Copper prices in London and New York both climbed to record highs. According to Sina Finance, traders weighed persistent tariff concerns and supply shortages against uncertainty over demand prospects from escalating hostilities in the Middle East. LME benchmark three-month copper briefly rose to $14,858.50 per metric ton, above the previous session's record high of $14,779. New York Mercantile Exchange copper also reached a record high of $6.894 per ounce. Copper prices have risen 19% so far this year. According to Sina Finance, Guangzhou Futures said in a social media report that caution is still needed at the macro level, U.S. inflation remains uncertain, and changes in expectations for Federal Reserve policy could put downward pressure on copper prices. On Wednesday, LME copper rose 0.4% to settle at $14,767.50 per metric ton.
