SBI Shinsei Trust Bank and SBI VC Trade Invest 1 Billion Yen of JPYSC Assets in Short-Term JGBs

SBI Shinsei Trust Bank and SBI VC Trade have begun investing 1 billion yen of JPYSC trust assets in short-term Japanese government bonds, according to a Startale blog post cited by Foresight News. The allocation follows recent Japanese regulatory changes that expanded stablecoin reserve asset management from deposits to certain short-term government bonds and other compliant assets. JPYSC was jointly developed by Startale and SBI Group. SBI Shinsei Trust Bank serves as the issuer and manages the trust assets and investments, while SBI VC Trade acts as the issuance trustee and electronic payment instrument exchange service provider. According to Foresight News, JPYSC is expected to support payment and remittance services inside and outside Japan, on-chain foreign exchange markets, and settlement for RWA and tokenized assets. Startale is the technical developer of JPYSC and also operates ecosystems including Soneium and Astar Network.
