Berlin Refuses 30 BTC Rhysida Ransom, Hackers Leak 5.7 Terabytes

Berlin’s state government refused to pay a 30 Bitcoin ransom demanded by the Rhysida ransomware group, and the hackers published 5.7 terabytes of stolen data on the dark web after the deadline passed. According to BeInCrypto, the State of Berlin said it would not give in to blackmail, while officials warned residents’ personal data could be included in the leak. The attack surfaced on August 14, and Berlin’s Senate Chancellery valued the demand at about two million euros. The State Criminal Police Office and Germany’s federal cybersecurity agency are leading the investigation.
