GEOPOLITICS | Canada to impose up to 50% retaliatory tariffs on US goods

Canada will impose new retaliatory tariffs of as much as 50% on US goods starting Sept. 8, targeting $27.6 billion of imports including steel, aluminum, pulp and paper, appliances and agricultural equipment, according to Bloomberg. Bloomberg News Ottawa Bureau Chief Brian Platt told Christina Ruffini and Jeff Mason on Bloomberg This Weekend that the broader economic impact may be limited, but businesses tied to integrated supply chains, tourism and cross-border commerce could face sharper consequences as retaliation continues.
