Base co-founder Jesse Pollak said on X that his account was hacked and that the attacker used a third-party app connected to the account to post a fraudulent token ticker. According to ChainCatcher, Pollak said the related posts have been deleted, all third-party app connections have been removed, and he has regained full control of the account.
Screenshots of the deleted post showed the attacker promoting a token called BASEMEME and describing it as the first meme coin with real utility, while also including a trading link and contract address. The token was reported to have a market value of $257,000.
