El Salvador's Bukele Denies Report on Bitcoin Reserve Transfer

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele accused El País of publishing false news after the newspaper reported that the country had transferred majority ownership and control of more than 7,763 bitcoin to a private operator. According to Odaily, Bukele said the claim was completely false and that the International Monetary Fund statement cited by El País referred to a transfer of Chivo wallet shares, not El Salvador's strategic bitcoin reserve. He also accused the media outlet of lying to readers.
